Hello Pretty Birds,
Have you heard today's news? Jil Sander is leaving Jil Sander... Again. Just when, in our humble opinion, she was rediscovering her magic at her name sake brand!
The brand announced the designer's departure this morning. It is the third time that she officially leaves the company. The explanation? "Personal reasons". The SS 2014 collection will be the last one designed by her and then the in-house team will take over for the FW 2014 collection.
All these changes got us a little curious and we did some research on the brand's history.
Here it is in a nut-shell for you:
1968 - brand founded by Jil Sander in Hamburg, Germany.
1999 - Jil Sander sold a mjority stake to the Prada Group, then left the company one year later.
2003 - Jil Sander makes a come back but leaves very shortly afterwards.
2005 - Raf Simmons is named creative director of the brand.
February 2006 - Change Capital Partners acquire the brand from the Prada Group.
2008 - Change Capital Partners sell the brand to Japan Onward Holdings.
February 2012 - Jil Sander returns to the house as creative director.
October 2013 - Jil Sander leaves the company for the third time.
They say third time is a charm... But for who???
